What are Eyelash Extensions?
Eyelash Extensions are an entirely new method of enhancing the length and thickness of your own natural eyelashes and are perfect for special occasions or for day-to-day wear. Lash extensions are single strands of synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. They are applied to each individual natural upper eyelash one-by-one for a natural, beautiful and luscious look. Traditional false lashes usually last only a few days to a week, often looking unnatural and feeling heavy on your eyes. Our lash extensions are weightless and are very comfortable on the eyes. The adhesive is formulated for a permanent bond and dries soft on lashes so they remain flexible and bouncy.
How long will a set of Eyelash Extensions Last?
When applied properly, your extensions will last the length of the natural growth cycle of your eyelashes which may last up to two months. Results will differ based on daily activities and general after-care will ultimately affect how long the extensions last. We recommend getting a touch up every 3 to 4 weeks. Your natural eyelashes shed every 45 - 60 days due to the natural growth cycle and are naturally replaced with the growth of a new eyelash. Again, this may vary from client to client due to your natural lash cycle. Touch ups generally take a short time and are relatively inexpensive.
How do I take care of my new Eyelash Extensions?
Following all after-care instructions will aid in extending the life of your lash extensions. The first 24 hours following your application are most crucial. Care must be taken not to rub your eyes, pull your lashes, or scratch (this may cause your lashes to fall out prematurely). Gently cleanse around the eye region with a wash cloth or fingers. Also, any cleansers and cosmetics containing glycols and carbonate can loosen the bond of the lash extensions. In the shower, you should avoid direct water spray on your extensions, do not use a steam bath, swim, or wash your face directly with hot water during your initial 24 hours post application.
Can I swim, shower, exercise, or visit a spa while wearing Eyelash Extensions?
Yes. The bonding agent we use is waterproof and allows you to shower, swim, exercise etc. We do recommend however that you do not wash or wet your lashes for at least 24 hours after the eyelash application to allow your lashes to “set” completely. Prolonged and excessive exposure to heat and water may lessen the life of your lashes, but will not make them fall off.
Can I apply mascara to Eyelash Extensions?
Yes, even though one of the greatest benefits of Eyelash Extensions is eliminating the need for mascara on a daily basis. Having extensions actually gives the illusion of wearing mascara. DO NOT USE OIL-BASED OR WATER-PROOF MASCARA as these can dissolve the bonding agent and shorten the life of your extensions causing them to fall out sooner. Care also needs to be taken in washing off the mascara being careful to use only water-based make-up remover.
Can I use eyelash curlers with Eyelash Extensions?
We do not recommend using mechanical eyelash curlers on your Eyelash Extensions as these curlers will damage the extensions and possibly your own natural lashes.
How are the extensions applied?
You will lay comfortably on a massage table with your eyes closed for the duration of the application. The extension of appropriate length, thickness, and curl is selected, dipped in a tiny amount of surgical-grade adhesive, and attached near the base of one natural eyelash. Many clients fall asleep during this relaxing procedure.
Will my natural lashes be damaged?
No. The most important thing is to make sure you are having them applied by a highly-trained and certified lash extension artist. The adhesive dries very soft on lashes, allowing the lashes to stay flexible and bouncy just like your own lashes. In fact, many people’s lashes become healthier as a result of wearing Eyelash Extensions because there is no need to wear mascara or curl your lashes anymore, which is very hard on your lashes. Will eyelash extension harm my own lashes?
Is there anything I should do in preparation for my appointment?
Yes. Please remove all eye makeup and contacts before your appointment. Be sure to use a mild, oil-free remover/cleanser.
How do I prepare for my application ?
Eyelids and Eyelashes must be completely clean and dry in preparation for the procedure. No heavy make-up or any kind of cream and lotions should be used before arriving. Also avoid any kind of caffeinated drink beforehand as the procedure requires you to be calm, relaxed, and have your eyes closed for nearly the whole duration.
How soon before my special event can I get my lashes done?
We recommend at least 2 days before your scheduled event. As with any beauty enhancing treatment, it may take time to adjust to your new look.
Can the extensions be removed?
Yes, they can easily be removed by your lash artist. Please do not attempt to remove any lashes on your own as you could damage your natural lashes this way.
What if I have an allergic reaction?
An allergic reaction to the adhesive is rare; however, if you are allergic to adhesives such as band-aids or glue or have sensitive eyes, please ask your technician for our special sensitive glue. You must contact your technician if you do suffer an allergic reaction and have your extensions removed.
